Meet the mind behind Sweeney’s Sweets!

Sarah is a mother of two who is a full-time orthopedic/neurosurgical physician assistant (PA) by day and an avid home baker at night. Well, in actuality she works shifts at the hospital during the day, nights, weekends, and even holidays. So maybe that is not the most accurate description. Baking is the “balance” to her otherwise chaotic and crazy life. She grew up with desserts all around her, her mother being an avid home baker herself. Brownies, chocolate chip cookies, cakes…the works! The excitement really came at Christmas when the cookie tins came out and the baking marathon ensued.

When she started dating her husband in 2009 (now her honorary taste-tester), she started to dabble more into cheesecakes and cakes. Over the last decade she has been baking as often as she can and as many different types of desserts as possible - batches of cake balls for exam days during PA school, cakes and cheesecakes for weddings, and smash cakes for birthdays. After she and her husband had their two daughters in 2017 and 2019, she started to experiment more with desserts that their girls would be able to help with (both who are now also honorary taste-testers), cookies seemed like the way to go!

As the years went on, her family grew, and her work in the hospital became busier, she started looking for something else to help balance and enrich her life and the life of her family. It was customary for Sarah to bring in cookies, cheesecakes, or whatever she had been baking into work, and it was on one of those stressful and chaotic days in the hospital that the idea was born…start a home bakery!
